The University of Ghana has launched an investigation into viral footage showing a heated exchange between two of its senior faculty members, Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, during a TV3 current affairs programme aired on Saturday, November 15, 2024.

What began as a discussion on national issues quickly escalated into a personal confrontation, drawing widespread public criticism and calls for the University to intervene.

In a statement, the University said management has taken note of the incident and, in line with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), has activated internal procedures to review the conduct of both academics and determine appropriate disciplinary measures.

The statement also reaffirmed the University’s expectations of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff, emphasizing that these standards must guide behaviour in both public and private settings.

“Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and maintaining public trust in the institution,” the University added.
