The former National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan has declared his intention to support the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Kwabena Dufour if he decides to join the party’s flagbearership race.
According to the former National Organiser, he will support Dr Dufour over former President John Dramani Mahama because the former is his friend.
“Dr Kwabena Dufour is my friend so I cannot turn my back against him in any competition.” He stated
In an interview on Okay FM, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan alleged that former President John Dramani Mahama sponsored Member of Parliament (MP) for Buem Constituency and former National Organiser of the party, Mr Kofi Adams to unseat him during the party’s primaries.
“People were saying it was Mahama who sponsored Kofi Adams to contest me. I didn’t believe it previously but I now believe it because of what people around Mahama are doing to me”, Mr Boateng Gyan laments.
It would be recalled that Mr Kofi Adams defeated Mr Boateng Gyan as National Organiser of the NDC in 2015.
Kofi Adams caused the biggest upset at the congress when he easily landed the national organiser position with 2,548 votes to dethrone Yaw Boateng Gyan, who finished with 734 votes.
