The Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party in Afram Plains, Mr. Kwasi Poku has revealed some damming secrets of the constituency, following the replacement of the District Chief Executive officer of the area, Mr. George Ofori when the list of MMDCEs was recently made public.

Highlighting what he described as grievances of residents in the area, Mr. Poku said lot of people within the Afram Plains South believe that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo dealt with them in a low blow with the dismissal of their preferred choice of District Chief Executive.

Making a case for the former District Chief Executive, he argued that the President’s decision to remove the DCE from office has fueled rumours that he as constituency Chairman had a hand in a so-called scheme hatched to ensure that Mr. Ofori is replaced.

“Some people within the constituency believe that, Mr President hasn’t been fair to them, considering fact that, the former DCE has  been very particular about  activities in the constituency. He combines the work of the party and that of the government together and so this will tell the kind of work he did…

He’s been working for the development of the people and so people actually expected that he would be maintained, hence the accusations of my complicity in the whole process. He told Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic Fm.

The chairman went on to remind residents the President is bestowed with the power to appoint and disappoint, adding that having exercised that mandate, party members also have a responsibility to accept the President’s choice, to ensure that there is peace in the area.

“All that I want to say as a constituency chairman is that, the President has exercised his powers, nobody should fight and destroy anything, if you want to exercise your displeasure, use the right avenues since we are all democrats ”. He advised.

He, however insisted that some persons at the Jubilee House took particular interest in the appointment of a DCE for the area, alleging that there was a lastminute arrangement at the blindside of the President who had Mr. Ofori as his choice.

He maintained that the plot was hatched at the Jubilee House to remove Mr. Opoku who is the people’s preferred DCE.

Answering a question on the newly nominated DCE, Evans Kyei Ntiri’s relationship with assembly members in the district, if he (Evans Kyei Ntiri) would be easily approved by the members, Mr Opoku stated that, for his part as the constituency chairman and Aksoan Assembly man, they have no choice than to confirm him.
