Nkawkaw gets CCTV surveillance; MTTD Boss assures tight security

Nkawkaw, the municipal capital of the Kwahu West Municipality has had it share of the nationwide security surveillance system across the country.

The move, according to the acting Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is part of plans initiated by the Police service in conjunction with the Central government to help combat crime against humanity.

This comes within 48 hours after the IGP paid a visit to the Eastern Region and subsequently visited the Nkawkaw Municipality to have an intensive discussions and engagement with the Municipal Police Command.

The engagement forms part of the Acting Inspector General of Police’s new strategic planning and reforms to make the police service a comfortable and efficient service to the public and the country at large.

According to the Divisional Motor Transport and Traffic Department commander for the Municipality, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Foster Asante, the new CCTV installation is one of the policies by the service to help reduce traffic infractions within the Municipality.

According to DSP who spoke in an interview with Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic Fm said the CCTV surveillance will have it command center staged in Accra whiles it monitors the activities of the suburbs.

“The CCTV will be mounted on vantage points and outskirts of the town. We are going to make sure the law is enforced. The surveillance will have it command center in the Capital and so if someone flout the laws and it requires the footage, we will just send a report and the data will be provided” he told Kwame Koranteng.

The MTTD Boss revealed that the IGP’s engagement with the officers was to appease their performance and lift up an unparalleled officer-civilian or drivers interactions.

To him, the IGP made it clear that, the officers in the service must uphold the integrity of the force to promote easy and safer environment for the country.

Meanwhile, the IGP and his team are currently in the Afram Plains, the Kwahu North province to engage stakeholders on security related issues.
