Energy Minister, Aker Energy Ghana hold meeting over Pecan field development

The Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said that he is keen on local content and that he wants all players in the upstream sector to ensure that the requisite skills are transferred to the Ghanaians upstream.

He said this in a meeting with a delegation from Aker Energy Ghana over the Pecan field development.

The Pecan oil field field is located offshore in the Gulf of Guinea which is expected to increase Ghana’s production to 500,000 barrels per day (bpd).

The meeting was to update the the government on the submission of Aker’s plan of development and the milestones chalked within the period.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aker Ghana, Mrs Kadijah Amoah said “ It is our hope to continue our engagements with the Petroleum Commission and other stake holders to expedite the process”.

“We are raising the local content bar to 95% and this would be made possible through a program we would establish for training and competence building”, she added.

Dr. Prempeh underscored the need for swiftness in getting the job done and urged all and sundry that as priority of His excellency the President, more Ghanaians would be trained to take up such technical roles in Ghana’s upstream industry.
