Two branches of ASA Savings and Loans Company at Odorkor and Amanfro have offered scholarship packages to some 20 brilliants but needy students in the areas.
The gesture worth GHc10,000 is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility in reaching out to the communities within which they operate.
The Junior Divisional Manager of ASA Savings and Loans Company, Mr. Joseph Kweku Annan, who presented the cheque to the beneficiaries explained that, each student is to benefit from GHc500 in order to help ease financial burden on their parents.
Mr. Annan stated that each of the two branches was supporting 10 students and that it is their responsibility to give back to society and not fixated on making profit.
“I am so excited ASA Savings and Loans has been able to support me to pay my ward’s school fees. I have been saving with ASA for a decade and I am grateful for all they have done for me,” Madam Vivian Aryee, a trader whose ward benefited from the package.
Elated form 2 Junior High School student, Johnson Kwabena who benefited from the package said “I felt very happy when my mother informed me about the scholarship. I am grateful to ASA and I will not let my parents down. I will learn and make my mother and family proud“.
