The founder and leader of Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor has called on the Cocoa Purchasing Companies to immediately arrest Purchasing Clerks who divert funds allocated to pay farmers after they have bought their Cocoa beans on their personal expenses.
She revealed that, farmers in the villages are suffering because of these poor treatment of meted out to them by some of these Cocoa Purchasing Clerks.
Madam Akua Donkor was very optimistic that, should the companies take on these extravagant PCs, farmers will be free.
“When you go to the villages, a farmer will sell his or her Cocoa beans to get the money to cater for the family ,but it will take him some months before getting the money, the farmer together with their family will be suffering whilst the PC enjoying the money on his girlfriends ,I think its time the companies take proactive measures to avert these nuisance situations”, she affirmed.
Moreover, the politician cum herbalist called on the government to implement some laws to ensure the farmers are paid through their banks accounts or E-zwich.
“Farmers deserve better , I will propose to the government to implement some laws to ensure farmers are paid through bank or E-zwich”
