The Conference Of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has stated that, it will continually engage the management of National Buffer Stock in order to avert the delay of food distribution to the various secondary schools.
This comes after some form two and three students of secondary schools were allegedly asked to go home because the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) had initially revealed that, food items and budget allocation to cater for the schools had not been made available.
Meanwhile, the National Buffer Stock Company has said in earlier statement that, its in the process of releasing the budgetary allocation of bank transfers due to some holidays within the festive season.
Confirming the statement in an interview with Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic FM, the General Secretary of the CHASS and headmaster of the St. Peter’s SHS, Mr. Kwame Owusu Aduomire said, they are still in the process of receiving the budgetary allocation since December and argued that, by the close of the day, all secondary schools will receive their food items and the budget allocation after some members of the CHASS initially complained that, they have not received anything from authorities.
According to Mr. Aduomire, the students were expected to report for schools on January 7, 2022.
Responding to questions on what plans the CHASS and the Ghana Education Service has had to avert such delays in their allocation of budget to fund the schools, he said, the education service and the CHASS will simultaneously have deliberations to curb such repercussions from occurring.
“As an employees of the Ghana Education Service, we will continually remind managements of the things that are ahead of us and its up to us to discuss it dispassionately to see the way forward.
There are lot of things the Government is doing and this is a flagship program of the President and so this is how we are going to be handling things from onwards”. He noted
