Coup in West Africa: Political Leaders must be smart – Security Analyst

A Ghanaian security consultant, Mr. Richard Kumador has warned that, failure by political leaders in the West African countries to be proactive will continue to witness Coup in their respective countries.

A Ghanaian security consultant, Mr. Richard Kumador has warned that, failure by political leaders in the West African countries to be proactive will continue to witness Coup in their respective countries.

The fraud and security consultant’s submission comes after the Transparency International listed Ghana, Guinea, Mali and Niger as being at a risk of attack.

The Think Tank and Corruption index group, revealed that Ghana has been observed as one of the African countries that stand the risk of instability in corruption and its related issues if they are not really tackled.

But responding on the development, Mr. Richard Kumador said, though, comparatively, Ghana is very peaceful in West Africa but notwithstanding, West Africa is predominantly prone to Coup D’etat.

“You wouldn’t wish for Coup D’etat and you don’t wish against for it and if the conditions are favorable, it can happen in country, anywhere and  anytime. West Africa is predominantly a Coup area and so we are not surprised, what is more important is that political leadership must be smart” he said.

According to the analyst on what needs to be done by Ghanaian leaders to consolidate the stability and democracy in the country, he opined that, border control security management must be deepened because of the excesses of Burkina Faso, Mali.

Additionally, he called for the availability of resources for the security agencies to improve on monitoring and control measures.

He called for the education of the masses. According to him, well civilized nations do no hamper in so many ways, and thus, government must make efforts to educate the public on its governance and policies.
