The Management of SGS Laboratory Services (SGS) led by the Managing Director, Mr. Samuel K. Gyan has donated GH¢20,000 to the Apiate Support Fund to help with the reconstruction of the community and the restoration of livelihoods.

Presenting the cheque to the Committee at a brief meeting on Thursday, 24th March 2022, Mr. Samuel K. Gyan explained that SGS laboratory Services Ltd, a leading testing, inspection and certification company and Mining support service provider has an obligation to extend a helping hand after the happenings at Apiate where lives and property were lost in the aftermath of the explosion which occurred on 20th January 2022.

He remarked that the unfortunate incident provides a platform for all to demonstrate kindness and extend a hand of friendship and love to the community.

“As industry players, we have come to support the reconstruction of Apiate community with our widow’s mite. We want to formally express our sympathy to all the families who have lost lives and properties. We hope that our contribution will go a long way to support the plan ahead of us“.

Receiving the donation, the Chairman of the Apiate Support Fund Committee, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee acknowledged the kind gesture and commended the company.

She maintained that the committee’s Terms of Reference is to solicit for sufficient funds and ensure that the Funds are disbursed with integrity and transparency.

Dr. Joyce Aryee further indicated that “what the President of the Republic would like to see is that, the Apiast Reconstruction will be a green township” because going forward “We can no longer ignore global warming and other environmental hazards so the goal is to develop a greener township”, she said.

She again assured that the donation will be used for its intended purpose and further appealed to Ghanaians and the diasporans to donate to the fund.
