A five-day Public Hearing of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has ended in Tamale after considering the Auditor-General’s Report on the Pre-University Educational Institutions in the Upper East and Upper West Regions.

Considering similar infractions in most of the Senior High Schools relating to distribution of essential foods, the Chairman of the Committee urged the Auditor-General to do Performance Audit at the National Buffer Stock to help address issues of quality and quantity of foods to schools.

He was of the view that the Performance Audit might help solve the problem of Heads of Institutions not having copies of contracts issued for the distribution of items to various schools.

The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, also charged Heads of institutions to feed the students with foods and items received from the Buffer Stock, rather than storing the foods to go waste.

Some of the schools that were cited in the report for various infractions include Funsi SHS, Eremon SHS, Lambussie SHS, Ko SHS, Daffiama SHS, Ullo SHS, Hilla Liman SHS, Awe SHS, St. John Boscos College of Education, Zebilla SHS, Queen of Peace SHS, T I Ahamadiyya SHS, St. Basilde Tech/Voc. Inst, Lassia Tuolu, Holy Family SHS, Islamic SHS, Bongo SHS and Zorkor SHS.

The rest were Gowrie SHTS, Bawku SHS, Pina SHS, Kaleo SHS, Lawra SHS, Jirapa SHS, St, Augustine’s SHS Tech/ Voc. Inst, St. Francis SHS, Navrongo SHS, Hain SHS and School for the Deaf.

In all the Committee considered four (4) 2018 Reports of the Auditor-General involving five (5) Regions.

The Committee is expected to begin its Middle Zone (Ashanti Region, Bono Region, Bono East Region and Ahafo Region) Public Hearing on Monday 25th to Saturday 30th April, 2022.
