The Kabaka Foundation has cut sod for the construction of a smart lab and E-library for St. Peter’s SHS in Nkwatia – Kwahu.
At a sod cutting ceremony held at the premises of the St. Peter’s SHS in Nkwatia – Kwahu on Monday, May 16, the Executive Director of the Kabaka Foundation, Dr. Henry Larbi said, as part of the foundation’s efforts to develop the area, it was necessary that such initiative is taken into consideration to project education in the area which also forms part of its objectives.
“As part of the visions and love from Nana Owiredu Wadie l to this school, he decided to construct this modern edifice for the St. Peter’s SHS to strengthen the teaching of science and mathematics in this school and that is why we are here today to cut sod for the commencement of the project”, the Executive Director said.
The project is expected to be completed in 3 months time, according to the Chairman of the foundation, Nana Owiredu Wadie l.
The project was also in accordance with the 65th anniversary of the St. Peter’s SHS and also to the 68th birthday celebration of the Chairman of Freedom Group, Opanyin Owiredu Wadie.
A partner to the Kabaka Foundation known as the Coral Reef limited will support the foundation in setting up the first smart lab and E-library project in second cycle institution in the Eastern Region.
A representative from the Coral Reef explained that its objectives is to seek to the digitization of the National Digital Literacy Project where the government of Ghana intends to digitize basic schools across the country.
The smart lab mostly will consist of tablets for the learners, notebooks for the teachers, projectors made in smart boards and also a content access point.
The content access point will form a local area network (LAN) where tablets can wirelessly access the resources shared by the teacher, which means a student will need an internet to access the resources if the student is in the room settings.
The E-library will also not require students to have a physical book to have a library. Everything will be stored on a content access point where students can access millions of titles which cuts across the curriculum of Kindergarten to even the adult literature.
It will help the children help in self–chase learning and they are able to set reading assignments for themselves.
The Headmaster of the school, acknowledged the Chairman of Kabaka Foundation for his relentless efforts in making sure that education in the area is well projected to it maximum realization.

The project when completed, will be the first of its kind in the Eastern Region.
Nana Owiredu Wadie l who was recently elected as the board Chairman of St. Peter’s SHS governing council was of the view that, the project will go and a long way to give an inside information and Technology ideas to the students as the world is fast moving on technology and innovation.
The Kabaka Foundation is known for developmental projects especially in Health, educational, disability Rehabilitation, income generating and economy Empowerment, environmental, Sanitation and Water projects.
The foundation is currently constructing a Water process where students of St. Peter’s SHS can benefit from it. It also building a District high court for the Kwahu East District.
