Residents at Afram Plains are mainly into farming and fishing as their source of livelihood.

Farmers in these areas of the country usually use premix fuel to irrigate their farms, especially those involved in vegetable crop growing.

Fishermen and commercial boat riders also use premix fuel for their daily businesses.

According to reports obtained by myrepubliconline.com, Farmers and local boat operators who use premix fuel are faced with a drastic shortage of premix fuel for their businesses.

Premix fuel has not been available in the area thereby resorting to the purchase of super petrol and mixing it with engine oil to be used for their operations.

This, according to them has inflicted huge financial difficulties on them thereby increasing fares and prices of fish harvested from their operations.

They are therefore pleading with the Ministry of Fisheries to supply them with the premix fuel else there will be rippling repercussions.

One commercial boat rider, Awuku Dzoboby told the reporter about the sudden challenges they are facing in the area.

According to him, they will soon lay down their working tools if the authorities involved in premix fuel supply do not act on their plight.

He also hinted that they were made to register with an amount of GhS 120.00 each for the supply of the premix fuel and as well pay tax in the district but no supply of premix fuel has been made.

“We are dying of hunger and it is very scary,” the boat owner said.
