The Head of a family in Kumasi has asked his family members to leave up to GH¢4,000 behind for their casket before they die.
The Abusuapanyin said this in an interview with Unique news due to the increase prices of coffins in recent times.
According to the family Head, his family will begin to adopt the Muslim method of burial.
“We will get a metal coffin that can be reused whenever a family member dies because I bought one recently at GH¢1,200 but as we speak it is GH¢ 3000”, the Abusuapanyin said.
The Abusuapanyin added that, if any family member fails to leave the said amount behind before he or she dies, the family will use what they have available for the burial
According to some coffin sellers, prices of some raw materials have increased as a result of the depreciating cedi.
A coffin which sold at GH¢ 1,500 is now selling at GH¢ 2,500 while others which were sold at GH¢ 2,500 is now selling at GH¢4000.
