The Chinese Galamsey Queen, En Huang popularly known in Ghana as Aisha Huang could not hold her tears in court today, November 9, 2022, following the rejection of a bill application by his lead counsel, Lawyer Nkrabea Effah Dartey.
This is the fifth time that the High Court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo has denied the accused person bill citing grounds that the trial has just resumed and will run on a fast past.
Ashia Huang busted into tears immediately after the court rejected her application for a bill again.
The first witness, Superintendent Ruben Ransford Abroabroa, an Immigration Officer who led the operation at Bepotenten at the Obuasi Municipality said that some four Chinese nationals were arrested in connection with illegal mining leading to the arrest of Ashia Huang.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs Yvonne Atakora Mensah, who led Supt. Abroabroa, to give his witness said the operation at Bepotenten led to the arrest of four Chinese and discovered six excavators with four in use.
Supt. Abroabroa disclosed that during interrogation one of the four arrested Chinese nationals said that their mining for Ashia Huang.
The immigration officer said, they conveyed the arrested Chinese nationals to Kumasi for further interrogation which led to the arrest of Ashia Haung.
Supt. Abroabroa said the officers who conducted the operation took both video and picture evidence of the illegal mining at Bepoteten.
The court showed the content on the pen drive but there was a problem with the sound and the court promised to work on the sound and show it on the next adjourn date.
The case was adjourned to November 14, 2022, at 1 pm.
