Inflation for December 2022 has reached 54.1 percent, accelerating from 50.3% in November 2022.
This means that in December 2022, the general price level was 54.1% higher than in December 2021.
The month-on-month inflation rate between November and December 2022 was 3.8 percent.
The Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim who made this known said this means that in the month of December 2022, the general price level was 54.1% higher than in the same period in 2021 with 50.3%.
The Government Statistician also disclosed that the non-food inflation rose to 49.9 per cent from 46.5 per cent in November. The month-on-month non-food inflation was 3.6 per cent.
He also disclosed that on a year-on-year basis, water went up by over 94%, followed by fruit and vegetable juices peaked at 84.6%.
December was highest in the category of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels with prices up 82.34%. Furnishings, Household Equipment and Transport came second and third, at 71.52%, and 71.42% respectively.
Others include Personal Care, Social Protection and Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 60.94% and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages transport also at 59.71%.
