The Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has met with officials of Siemens Energy SAS to discuss the current cooperation with the energy sector on the implementation of projects aimed at re-equipping the entire National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS).
In his remarks, Dr. Prempeh indicated that the objective of the project is to strengthen the western segment of the NITS and increase transformation capacity for enhanced performance reliability.
“In our quest for ensuring power supply reliability to Ghanaians, the critical infrastructure of transmission continues to be prioritized for optimal delivery,” he remarked
“To this end, I assured the team that I, and for that matter, the Ministry of Energy stand ready to draw the needed synergies and cooperation like these, for a strengthened grid system,” he said
Dr. Prempeh said as sector Minister he looks forward to a successful implementation of all the crucial phases of the project seeking the necessary governmental approvals as the government continues to work hard to keep the lights on.
The Siemens team expressed their readiness to partner with Ghana fully for the collective growth and advancement of the two parties.
