The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful participated in a panel discussion on Thursday, 27 April 2023 at the Network of Women in ICT in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
She explained how the Government of Ghana has expanded the Girls-in-ICT day to a 3-week program which trains 100 teachers as trainers and 1000 girls from the selection region when the initiative is being celebrated to impact more lives and to bridge the gender digital.
She further added that a competition is organized at the end of the training to select the best hundred girls for award of laptops and computer labs to the schools of the best 10.
She informed the forum that due to the conscious efforts Government is making to invest in young girls in ICT, she was hopeful that in 25 years, the narrative of fewer women in leadership and decision-making positions will be a thing of the past.
