Karela United secured a point against Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Monday in match day 32 in the betPawa Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors took the lead in the 29th minute after Karela United’s defender Mohammed Rashid mistakenly got the ball into his own net.
Kotoko had piled a lot of pressure on the away side, right at the start of the first 45 minutes, coming close to scoring in the 3rd minute after Sarfo Taylor’s effort struck the post.
After the break, Karela was a much-improved side, as they also created some decent chances to get back into the game.
With 15 minutes to the end of the game, the Anyinase-based club got the equalizer through Abdul Fatawu Mohammed who fired a close-range shot into the Kotoko goal post.
The chances of Kotoko to retain the title is now over, as they sit fourth in the league table with 48 points, with just two games to end the season.
Karela United, however, is in the bottom three, with 41 points, and could avoid relegation if they win their next two games.
