Dr. Frank Nkansah, a political analyst, has expressed worry about how political parties have stormed Assin North to execute developmental projects in the area ahead of the by-election that is scheduled for today, June 27, 2023.
The political analyst speaking in an interview on High Radio stated that he is surprised at how development suddenly hit Assin North district after the Supreme Court ordered parliament to expunge the name of Mr. Gyaake Quayson from its records for the by-election, indicating that the sudden initiation and implementation of developmental projects in the district after the notification of the by-election defines how Ghanaians have been taken for granted by politicians.
He said there were a lot of deplorable roads in the Assin North and its enclaves that were not attended to for some time now, on which construction works have begun by the NPP government for the purposes of the by-election, stressing that it is very sad to notice how people within the Assin North welcomed the NPP government over such a deceitful nature of the development initiated.
Describing the fortunes of the candidates ahead of the by-elections, he said the contest is so close between Mr. Charles Opoku and Mr. James Gyaakye Quayson, explaining that each of them stands a chance of winning.
He underscored the fact that a section of Ghanaians were thinking of success for Mr. Quayson out of sympathy votes due to the humiliations he has been subjected to, but the arrival of the NPP to Assin North and how they were highly welcomed by the people demonstrates how tense the elections will be, hence it will be very difficult to predict the winner, but cautioned the NDC to be attentive because it wouldn’t be easy for their candidate as they previously thought.
