The Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced a 42-year-old carpenter to four years in prison for biting off one ear of another individual during a misunderstanding in Addoteiman, a suburb of Accra.

The carpenter, Maxwell Senyo pleaded guilty with an explanation after he was charged with causing harm,

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Eric Ransford Abban, both the victim, Stephen Anku and the accused resides in Addoteiman.

Giving the facts of the matter, Inspector Abban said, On May 7, 2023, at approximately 8:00 PM, Stephen and his girlfriend were sitting under a tree near Senyo’s wooden structure.

While they were there, Senyo approached them and questioned whether they were looking for him.

Stephen replied saying no. The prosecutor added that Senyo then threatened to report Stephen as a thief to his father unless they left the area.

This led to a back-and-forth between Senyo and Stephen.

During the argument, Senyo grabbed a branch from a tree and hit Stephen with it.

Both men then fell to the ground in the turn of events, leading to Senyo sustaining injuries to his cheeks.

In getting his way, the accused Senyo forcibly held Stephen’s head and bit off his right ear.

Police investigations later revealed that Senyo had bitten off the complainant’s ear simply because he was sitting close to Senyo’s wooden structure.
