Government has approved an upward adjustment of the monthly allowances for National Service Personnel from GH¢559.04 to GH¢715.57.
This was contained in a statement released by the Corporate Affairs Department of the National Service Scheme on July 23, 2023.
According to the management of the scheme, the government has agreed for the allowance to be increased after a series of engagements with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Finance Ministry.
It did, however, emphasize that all personnel currently in service will get payment for any arrears resulting from the upward adjustment beginning in January 2023.
“The Management of the National Service Scheme has secured government approval for upward adjustment of monthly allowances for National Service Personnel from GH¢559.04 to GH¢715.57, with effect from January 2023.
The approval, which was contained in a letter dated 18th July, 2023 and signed by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Abena Osei-Asare (MP), was as a result of series of engagements between National Service Scheme, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance.”
The management of the scheme asked all personnel to have patience, as their arrears will be paid in due time.
