Fred Nuamah, an aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West- Wuogon seat, has withdrawn from the party’s Parliamentary Primaries.
The actor, who just entered politics, has opted to endorse fellow actor and politician John Dumelo.
His decision to withdraw from the contest was announced in a letter to the NDC General Secretary and the chairman of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
In the letter, the actor and movie producer said “I firmly believe that the NDC must present a unified front for the 2024 general elections.
As a dedicated member of the NDC, I prioritize the party’s unity and the President John Mahama project aimed at rescuing our country.”
According to the actor and movie producer, the decision to withdraw from the contest was a personal decision he made with key stakeholders and without any external influence.
He, therefore, expressed gratitude towards his supporters and well-wishers and also called on them to rally behind John Dumelo.
“I wholeheartedly endorse and throw my support behind my good friend and brother, Mr. John Dumelo, to be the parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency,” Nuamah emphasized.
Although the NDC has already held its parliamentary primaries nationwide, a few constituencies including Ayawaso West-Wuogon were put on hold.
In April, the party suspended the vetting of the candidates ahead of the parliamentary primaries.
