Children in Fula, in the Tain District of Bono Region have developed the habit of dropping out of school.
The Assemblyman for Njau-Tanoso electoral area, Hon Kwame Danquah in his service to the electoral area has pleaded with the parents to allow their children to be in school rather than withdrawing them for farming activities, which will draws back their children’s development.
The Honourable Assemblyman indicated that their future may remain bleak without formal education, and appealed to the parents to understand that education is the modern tool for success, which would enable them to reciprocate parents’ investments.
Hon. Danquah said this on Friday, 21st May, 2021 in Fula, a suburb of Njau in Tain district through his remarkable visit to the community to supervise the impact of his advocacy on the need to let their children be in school for better living conditions.
The sensitization was accompanied by the department of social welfare and directorates from Ghana Education Service in the Tain district.
On the part of the Social welfare, their role was to ensure that some parents reversed their negative attitude towards their children and to enroll them in formal schools for better lives, and to show compassion, love and caring to children, by offering them with the needed attention and assistance.
They called on parents to invest heavily in their children’s education to ensure that the children did not go wayward, the children’s welfare is concerned, they expressed.
Mr. Fofie Simon, who represented the GES acknowledged the need and importance on why the parents should send their children to school.
“Education is now a tool for development and success which needs much attention. We have provided every thing for your convenient to improve your education, school feeding is available for you, you have all the necessary learning materials, teachers are also available, so what is wrong with you parents to disallow your children on education?” He bemoaned.
Some of the parents complained that, most of the children comes home few minutes after they (parents) left their children to farm, and that makes it difficult to know much on why their children don’t go to school.
The Assemblyman stressed that he will continue to implement projects and programmes that would promote the interest of parents and children, and appealed to all to support in any way that would help the children to grow successfully.
