A group of aggrieved indigenes of Sarfo in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region have on Sunday, 23 May 2021 invoked River deities to punish the Juaben Manhene who double as a Council of State Chairman, Nana Otuo Serebuo and any individual who encroaches on their lands.

According to the aggrieved residents, the chiefs and the elders of Sarfo have held a meeting with the Kwabre Municipal Assembly over Sarfo stool lands being annexed and encroached by the Juaben Manhene. Per the documents at the Sarfo stool and the Assembly, the portion of the land taken over by this Chief belong to the Sarfo Traditional area.

The residents have been asked to exercise restraint by halting all activities on the land until the agreement is firmed up.

However, the Juaben Manhene in gross defiance of the restraint order allegedly have given some portion of the land to some unknown developers clearing the area for unknown reasons.

This situation forced the youth of Sarfo onto the streets in protest to the failure of the government to intervene to halt the encroachment.

The spokesperson of the aggrieved residents Nana Agyeman Kodom told the media that President Akufo-Addo must act immediately to resolve the growing tension at Sarfo.
