Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has bemoaned that his former party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), does not value him.

Mr. Kyeremanten said this during a conference in Accra on Monday, September 25, 2023, when he announced a break from the party.

According to him, it was his wish to serve the country through the NPP, but for a period of time now, he has felt he is not well appreciated by the NPP.

“It was my fervent wish to use the vehicle of the party to bring my God-given talent, experience and knowledge acquired both locally and internationally, over a period of forty-six years to serve my dear nation, Ghana, at the highest level of executive authority.

“It is abundantly clear to me that my services and contributions to the party are not appreciated, and that my continuous stay in the party will create further tensions and divisions, which is an exact replay of the circumstances that led to my decision to resign from the party in 2008,” he said.

“Fellow countrymen and women, under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I’m honourably resigning with immediate effect,” he added.

The former Trade Minister announced his withdrawal from the NPP 2024 flagbearer race on September 5, 2023, as a result of some intimidation that was meted out to his agents, as well as other varying allegations that came up in the party’s special delegates conference in August this year.
