The National Peace Council has presented a Peace Ambassadorial Award to Nana Owiredu Wadie, the Development Chief of Kwahu Nkwatia, for his outstanding contribution to peace, Ghanaian culture, and development in the country.

Nana Owiredu Wadie, who also serves as the chairman of the Kabaka Foundation, a nonprofit organisation headquartered in Kwahu-Nkwatia, was adjudged the overall Eastern Regional Peace Ambassador award.

The council, through their citation to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Nana Owiredu Wadie, cited his immense support of equal opportunities, gender emancipation, peace, and security in nation-building.

The National Peace Council also indicated that its contributions satisfy five of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely poverty, hunger, good health and well-being, quality education and peace, justice, and strong institutions.

Nana Owiredu Wadie and his Kabaka Foundation have reported many less privileged people in Ghanaian society, including persons with disabilities. He’s contributed to security by building an ultramodern police station with an ancillary bungalow for officers in Nkwatia as well as a new divisional headquarters office for the Nkwatia Divisional Police Command.

He solely constructed and handed over a remarkable edifice for the Nkwatia Circuit Court and the yet-to-be-inaugurated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.

On his part, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, expressed his satisfaction with the great service to the country done by Nana Owiredu Wadie.

Nana Owiredu Wadie, while addressing the gathering, urged other benevolent organisations and well-meaning Ghanaians to help emulate the oath taken by his outfit to continue to promote peace and ensure development is brought to the doorstep of the people.
