Former Bono East NPP regional communications director, Mr. Benjamin Kwabena Amoako Frimpong, has resigned from the party to support Independent candidate Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.
According to Mr. Amoako Frimpong, the former Trade and Industry Minister was not fairly treated in the party’s Super Delegate Congress.
“Alan’s decision to resign from the party and not just go and sit at home but contest as an Independent candidate then I will gladly throw my weight behind him”, he said.
Speaking in an interview, the former communications director noted that, the New Patriotic Party has lost its principles under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo and the current party executives.
He mentioned that although speaking the truth can be bitter, there are instances when it must be done since that party is going in the wrong direction.
Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen resigned from the NPP on Monday, September 25, 2023, and announced his decision to run as an Independent Candidate in the 2024 general elections.
Announcing his decision, Mr. Kyerematen who placed third in the New Patriotic Party’s super delegate congress and later pulled out of the race said, that party leaders were biased towards a particular candidate.
“It is time to bring change and as an individual, he has brought change to every position he has held in the past hence his decision to resign from the party and go Independent”.
