A renowned Civil engineer, Ing. Charles Kwasi Taylor has recommended an immediate dredging at the Estuary of the Lake Volta to mitigate the situation at Mepe and other areas affected by the Dam spillage.

Touring the affected Communities such as Azzizanya and Kewunor in the Ada East Municipal, he attributed the entire wailings of the people of Central and North Tongu to what he terms as Shoddy works at the Estuary, where the Volta Lake meets the Sea.

From his point as a Civil engineer, the exit of the Lake thus the Estuary is Overpowered by the Sea so, the volume of Water that has to flow into the sea is overrode by the Sea waves due to the Wrongful diversion of the Lake.

Ing Charles Kwasi Taylor maintained that, Two communities Azzizanya and Kewunor, that have also been submerged in the Spillage is because, the constructor who supervised the Sea defense project heaped sand to Separate the Sea from the Volta Lake, there by leaving the two Communities in a Dangerous valley anytime the lake overflows it’s banks.

Touring the Affected Communities with Kingdom FM’s Okogyeabour Ocran, he indicated that, the soaked end of the Spillage that is, Mepe and other areas can be free only when the Volta Lake has free entry into the sea.

In his assertions, he also highlighted a wrongful piled up Boulders which in a way ceasing free exit of the Lake and has also reduced the flowing pressure of the Lake.

The Visitation also cited a Beach resort Called Maranatha Beach resort situated at the Shores of the Lake blocking the Full flow of the Lake aside the wrongful diversion.

Visiting the Enclave, Schools, Churches and Houses have been submerged leaving the school going children stranded in the visited Communities.

Some residents in the area also in an interview with Okogyeabour Ocran revealed that, Boats have been Sinking and Capsizing at the Estuary because of the Heap sand pilled up at the Estuary.

Mr. Taylor after his recommendations appealed to the Authorities to entend support to the People of Azzizanya and Kewunor because, they are also part of the Submerged Communities in the Spillage.
