Abdul Razak, now known as Executive Chef Failatu, has successfully concluded her Guinness World Record (GWR) cooking attempt, leaving a positive trail of economic impact in the North.
Local businesses, travel agencies, and vendors are now expressing gratitude for the surge in sales and acknowledging the initiative.
Business enterprises in the region have experienced a notable uptick in sales, with some vendors attributing their success directly to the GWR cookathon.
Mavis Kotoka, a vendor specializing in local beverages like Zimkom, Sobolo, and Coco Drink, shared her enthusiasm, revealing a 50% increase in sales during the event. She expressed optimism for continued success, stating, “Our business has been going well thanks to the event organizers. Previously, we made sales, but this event has significantly boosted our revenue.”
Haruna Hawabu, another vendor, acknowledged the heightened competition but emphasized the positive impact on her small business.
Despite increased market competition, she noted, “This event has promoted my small business. I have made a reasonable sum, although I cannot provide the exact figures now due to ongoing business expansion investments.”
Madam Hamida, a salesperson at Shabasa Travel and Tours, highlighted the event’s role in opening up travel and tour opportunities in the North.
She noted that the influx of visitors from various parts of Ghana to witness the GWR attempt had positively influenced their business.
Hamida encouraged travellers to explore the region, saying, “The event opened up business in the travel sector, and visitors took the opportunity to tour the North, discovering the diverse tourist opportunities available.”
Hannifa Tajudeen, expressing gratitude for the organizers, emphasized how the cookathon elevated her product’s market visibility. She thanked the event organizers for bringing such a unique and impactful initiative to the local community, providing businesses with a platform for growth and exposure.
Chef Faila commenced her ambitious GWR attempt on January 1, 2024, and concluded the culinary marathon on January 10, 2024, after an impressive 227 hours and 2 seconds. Over the ten-day event, Chef Faila showcased her culinary prowess by preparing a staggering 156 different meals, with a total of 2,864 plates served. Furthermore, she demonstrated her commitment to social responsibility by distributing 450 plates to the orphanage, homeless, and privileged individuals within the Tamale metropolis.
