Founder of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has indicated that one of its senior Vice Presidents, Kofi Bentil remains part of the organization.
This comes after Mr. Bentil declared publicly his support for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
However, the President of IMANI has through his Facebook post watered down the severity of Mr. Bentil’s actions, stressing that he is still an important figure of the group.
He underscored their respect for all the Presidential candidates going into the 2024 general elections while emphasizing that personal issues will not affect their organization’s analysis and critique of issues.
“Our individual wishes and preferences however expressed or communicated, will always be overridden by the collective mandate we have carved for the organisation, in putting out objective, independent analysis and critique on many issues within an environment that guarantees individual freedom and liberty.
“In this light, Mr. Kofi Bentil, whose personal political views were expressed about a preference for a candidate in this year’s election, remains an integral part of IMANI,” he wrote on Facebook.
Mr. Bentil’s decision to declare his support Dr. Bawumia has drawn a lot of criticism has stressed that he is not worried and will continue to express his opinion without fear.
