Parliament has by consensus, approved eleven of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominations of Deputy Ministerial Appointments who have been duly vetted by the Appointments Committee.

This follows the adoption of the Seventh Report of the Appointments Committee on the President’s nominations submitted to the House.

The approval of the eleven on Tuesday June 22 came after a unanimous voice vote from both the Majority and Minority sides of the House.

Madam Gifty Twum Ampofo was dropped from the previous list of nominees following unresolved issues about her nomination and vetting session.

But according to the 7th report of the Appointments Committee presented and debated on the floor of parliament, Madam Twum Ampofo has been approved by consensus.

Sources say Gifty Twum Ampofo attended a minority caucus meeting earlier today [Tuesday], with members of the Majority leadership, to plead for mercy.

Other deputy minister nominees approved are Bright Wireko Brobbey– Employment Ministry, Michael Okyere Baafi – Trade and Industry Ministry, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam– Energy Ministry, Stephen Jaliyah – Roads and Highways Ministry, Thomas Mbomba – Foreign Affairs Ministry, Herbert Krapa – Trade and Industry Ministry, Fatimatu Abubakar – Information Ministry, Mark Okraku Mantey – Tourism and Creative Arts Ministry, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah – Attorney General and Justice Ministry, and Mahama Seini – Health Ministry.

So far, 35 of the deputy ministers and one Minister of State have been approved, with four more yet to be approved.

The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin said, will proceed to communicate the decision to His Excellency the President as Parliament having given prior approval to the nominations.
