The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to shake up its leadership in Parliament following the appointment of some of its leaders to ministerial positions.

Information gathered by Republic Press suggests that a crucial meeting within the party is scheduled for Monday, February 19, 2024, to effect the changes.

The change is expected to come as a result of the current, Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who is expected to be given a new role as Chairman of the party’s 2024 Manifesto Committee.

This means that the current Deputy Majority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, is most likely to replace the Suame Member of Parliament and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs while Frank Annoh Dompreh, the current Majority Chief Whip will assume the role of Deputy Majority Leader.

With the current Deputy Majority leader and the current Majority Chief Whip expected to climb up the ladder, the other vacancies are also expected to be occupied.

The new Majority Chief Whip position will be occupied by the current second Deputy Chief Whip, Habib Iddrisu.

Following the ministerial reshuffle which saw Madam Lydia Alhassan, the First Deputy Majority Whip being nominated to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Patricia Appiagyei is expected to assume the First Deputy Majority Whip position while Alex Tetteh Djornobuah, MP for Sefwi-Akontombra, will likely fill the position of Second Deputy Chief Whip.
