The Ghana Statistical Service started the Population and Housing Census on the 13th of June, 2021 with the listing of structures which ended on 27th June,2021.
However, 27th June, 2021was the census night which marks the beginning of the enumeration from 28th June to 11th July, 2021.
Mr. Nyarko Larbi, the Head of Public Relations (HPR) for the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) in an interview disclosed that nobody should resist the enumeration because it is for individuals and the nation’s benefits.
According to him, it is against the law for an individual or group to disallow the enumerators to enumerate them in the ongoing exercise.
Mr. Nyarko Larbi in addition stated that citizens should be sincere to the census officers and give them the required information because there is a state of strict secrecy in the Population and Housing Census programme so no census official will disclose an information about someone to a third party.
He also emphasized that any census officer found of violating the law and oath of secrecy attached to the programme will be drastically dealt with and can even amount to imprisonment.
