A student of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has been confirmed dead by the Ghana Police Service following a robbery incident on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
A statement released by the police on Wednesday, April 17, identified the deceased as Abdul Aziz Issah.
Meanwhile, authorities of the school also confirming in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office, Alfred Appiah, indicated that the incident happened when some BSc. level 300 and 400 Renewable Energy Engineering Students were returning from a trip to BUI Power Authority around 7:00 p.m. near Boffourkrom in the Sunyani West Municipality.
The Police however, noted that six other students also sustained minor injuries and were sent to hospital for treatment but have since been discharged.
Following the incident, the police have arrested one suspect in connection with the robbery, whiles on manhunt for the other accomplices.
