Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area and the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Agyemang Badu II, has asked the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, to choose his running mate from the Bono Region.
He said this when Dr. Bawumia paid a courtesy call on the Bono Regional House of Chiefs in Sunyani on Wednesday, May 8.
According to Nana Agyemang Badu, refusing to grant their request will result in the people of the Bono Region not voting for the NPP.
“His excellency, I have realized that you will choose a running mate soon or if you have already selected, I have not heard. Sometimes, some people only want a running mate to come from their region alone but for me, I do not agree.
“His excellency, there are other people in other regions but if you decide to only choose from just a few selected regions, they will be the only ones to vote for you with the rest of us voting against you. So, one thing I will plead you to do is to look at some of our people,” he said.
He continued by suggesting some names for him to choose from adding that they are competent people without blame.
“His Excellency, Martin Adjei Korsah, Ignatius, Baffour Awuah, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, and Mahama Afful are all from this region and people who can fill that position. We in Bono region and to that extent Bono East have an interest in who you select as running mate. I will understand if it goes elsewhere but I will really thank you if it comes here,” he added.
