Black Stars’ head coach, Otto Addo has stated that he wishes Ghana could improve the quality of its pitches.

Though he said he thinks things have improved a little, more has to be done to ensure the quality of the game.

Otto Addo, speaking ahead of Ghana’s FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Central Africa Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, stated that, while the pitch is not in perfect condition, their focus is on the game.

“We wish pitches will be better. These are things I think in general we need to work on all together and I hope that it will get better but this is the way it is and this is the way we take it. When I was playing the pitches were even worse, so things are getting better gradually and i think we will all have to push and work to make things better but its not a topic for us to be honest.

“We’re just focusing on the game, it is the same condition for our opponent so for me, it doesn’t matter.”

It’s not the first time coaches of the Black Stars appeared to complain about the condition of our pitches.

The Cape Coast Stadium for instance in 2023 was declared unfit to host international matches the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
