Students of Nkoranza Technical Institute (NTI) have allegedly attacked those of Nkoranza Senior High Technical School (SECTHEC) in the Bono East region on Monday, June 10, 2024.

The clash resulted in eight injuries and significant property damage, including police and teachers’ vehicles.

Police intervened to control the situation, arresting two students, with efforts ongoing to apprehend others involved.

According to sources, the conflict began when male Nkoranza Technical Institute students went to Nkoranza Senior High Technical School (SECTHEC) on Friday evening, June 7, 2024, to propose to some female students, which enraged SECTHEC male students and erupted into riot.

Mr. Isaac Amankwaa, the Municipal Education Director of Nkoranza South, confirmed in an interview that the situation has calmed down while investigations continue.

He noted that a committee, established by the Bono Regional Minister, the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Police Commander, will investigate the cause of the riot.

Mr. Amankwaa highlighted that such conflicts have been recurring between the two schools, often ignited by minor issues.

He urged former students and staff who may be influencing the current students to stop.
