The Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency, Joseph Frempong, has reiterated confidence in retaining his seat in the upcoming elections.
The constituency Chairman, Mr. Francis Abuaku filed the MP’s nomination on Thursday, September 12, 2024, with an assurance of maintaining the seat for the NPP.
Speaking to the Republic Press Newspaper after filing on behalf of the MP, Mr. Abuaku indicated that the MP’s candidacy remains resolute despite some unscrupulous machinations plotted to oust the MP from his constitutionally mandated position.
He said the MP’s tenure in office has seen some remarkable developmental projects in the constituency, citing the challenges that come with the duties of the MP.
The chairman highlighted the MP’s monumental projects since assuming office in 2020, stressing that his efforts have immensely improved the lives of the people in Nkawkaw.
The chairman was accustomed by sympathizers of the MP, as well as party executives.
The chairman called on the constituents to reflect on the efforts of the MP and continue to support him to ensure more developmental projects.
He described the filing of the MP’s nomination as an assurance of victory for the NPP in the 2024 general elections.
He encouraged them to stand firm behind the NPP, noting that their support would secure further growth and prosperity for the area under his leadership and that of His. Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
On Thursday, September 5, some major news outlets across the country reported that the NPP had resorted to David Asante Boateng, MD for Ghana Publishing as a replacement for the Nkawkaw constituency, considering the incumbent MP’s health issues.
Subsequently, the constituency party executives in a statement ruled out the reportage, branding it as an unfounded and unfortunate move since there has been no official communique from the top hierarchy of the party.
The National Executive Committee on Wednesday, September 11, in a crucial meeting affirmed the MP’s candidacy, stating that the MP is healthy and well-put to contest in the 2024 general elections.
