A joint security Taskforce headed by the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Isshaq Ibrahim has arrested 8 illegal miners operating in the Agogoso River and River Offin near Nyinahin.

The Taskforce destroyed 15 changfan machines and over 150 tents, while more than 100 pumping machines and 15 detectors were also picked and one excavator.

In an interview, the DCE said, “The move was aimed at protecting the sanctity of the river that serves thousands across the Atwima Mponua District.

The DCE has sent a strong warning to galamseyers within the Atwima Mponua District and urges the residents to help assist the fight against this illegal environmental degradation.
