A powerful rainstorm has caused massive destruction in the Amakye-Bare community of the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipality in the Ashanti Region, leaving hundreds homeless and plunging the area into darkness.
The storm, which lasted for about an hour, destroyed more than 200 houses, including schools, churches, and poultry farms. It also brought down seventy-two (72) electricity poles, ripped off roofs, and left many structures severely damaged.
With power infrastructure destroyed, the entire community is currently without electricity. Many residents have been forced to live in the open, as they struggle to recover from the devastation.
“The storm was intense, and it has left us in a desperate situation. Without assistance, we have nothing to sustain ourselves,” a distraught resident lamented.
In response, Nana Osei-Tutu, the Kyeidomhene of Amakye-Bare, has made an urgent appeal to the government, philanthropists, and relief agencies to provide support for the affected residents.
As the community grapples with the aftermath, residents are calling for immediate intervention to restore power, rebuild homes, and provide relief items to those who have lost everything.
