Residents of Apenteng, a farming community with a population of approximately 1,000 people in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region have been connected to the National Grid for the first time in their history.
Speaking in an interview with the Media after a small durbar at Apenten to officially commission the electricity project, Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Hon. Augustine Collins Ntim who doubles as a Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development revealed his vision to extend electricity to every Community in his Constituency by the year 2025.
On his part, Hon. David Akwasi Asare Boakye the DCE for Offinso North called on Nananom and the People of Ghana to continue supporting the NPP Government to do more projects to improve the livelihoods of rural folks.
Meanwhile, Mr George Frimpong Antwi the Supervisor in charge of the VRA/NEDCo Substation in Offinso North District revealed that his outfit would educate the residents on the proper use of electricity since this is their first time experience.
