In a daring robbery, armed assailants targeted the IBM fuel station at Pakyi No. 2 in the Amansie West district of the Ashanti Region. According to reports, the robbers restrained five fuel attendants and a security guard before making off with one million cedis.

Eyewitnesses stated that the armed men forcibly entered the office, disconnected the CCTV system, and seized the digital video recorder, rendering the security footage inaccessible.

Mr. Kwabena Tawia, the director of the IBM fuel station, spoke to the media, urging the Ashanti Regional Police Command to intensify patrols in the area to safeguard against such criminal activities.

He highlighted a troubling increase in thefts, particularly targeting fuel stations over the past few months.

Fuel attendants recounted the harrowing ordeal, explaining that the robbers ordered them to lie down and threatened to shoot if they did not comply. Some attendants were assaulted during the incident.

They collectively appealed to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to urgently establish a police patrol team in the area.

The attendants stressed that the absence of a police presence has emboldened criminals, leading to a surge in nighttime criminal activities.
