Thousands of residents of Atwima Kwanwoma located in the Botsomtwe/Atwima/Kwanhuma district of the Ashanti Region of Ghana on Tuesday, June 22, blocked the dusty main road that links many towns in the district to address their challenges.

The enraged residents say they cannot sit unconcerned while dusty roads riddled with deep gullies, potholes and erosion take a toll on their health.

About eight towns joined forces to drum home their grievances which have been left unattended to for many years.

The towns are; Nweneso No.2, Nweneso No.3, Atwima Boko, Takyiman, Denkyemuoso, Twedie, Foase, Nweneso No.1, and Kwadaso Ohwimase.

The Odikro of Takyiman, Nana Afriyie Takyi III, said the dust on the road is seriously causing a lot of problems to them.

“We can’t even dry our clothes after washing them in our houses or wear any neat dress to any durbar because of dust”. Nana Takyi added.

He therefore pleaded with the government to fulfil its promise of completing the road for them.

Some of the residents who joined the demonstration also added their voices over the challenges confronting them in the area.
