Residents of Benim, a community in the Asante Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region, are urgently appealing to the government and relevant stakeholders to address their dire need for potable drinking water.
Speaking to Jingle News, the Assembly Member for the Benim Electoral Area, Hon. Atta Kwasi, expressed concern over the current water supply, which he described as inadequate.
“The existing water source is not flowing as expected, and despite reaching out to the authorities responsible, no concrete solution has been provided,” he stated.
Due to the unreliable water supply, residents have resorted to using surface and well water, which they share with animals. Hon. Atta Kwasi warned that if the issue remains unresolved, the community could face a potential outbreak of waterborne diseases.
He urged the government and relevant agencies to intervene promptly and ensure the provision of a safe and sustainable water supply to the community.
