Over 500 residents of Buoho-Nsuose in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region have threatened to sue KK Quarry Company and the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly for causing damage to their homes and properties.

The affected residents who are preparing a suit pray for the court to compel the company and the Assembly to pay compensation for damages and also ensure that due diligence is done during the blasting process.

The houses of the locals have developed deep cracks with roof damages from flying stones as a result of the blast.

According to the residents, the activities of the quarry companies apart from the health implications have also affected their properties and created a lot of inconveniences for them.

The District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon Christian Adu-Poku, in an interview said the Assembly has started arranging with the minerals commission to establish an office in the district to test the impact of every blasting.

Hon Adu-Poku has then asked the company to adhere to work safety precautions as well as obey the Environmental Protection Agency’s laid down rules in their operations.
