Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested the chief of New Akrofuom in the Adansi Asokwa district, Nana Kwaku Amoah for allegedly attempting to sodomize a 17-year-old boy.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday, October 23.
According to reports, the chief entered the young boy’s room with the intention of engaging in the act with him, but the young boy alerted other community members.
The chief upon sensing danger, fled the scene, but the community members went to his residence and attempted to lynch him.
Reports further indicated that Police officers later arrived at the Chief’s residence and took the suspect into custody.
Meanwhile, in an interview, the Mfantifohene, Nana Kwabena Eboo, said the chief rushed to his house at about 12:30 am claiming he went to collect a phone from the teenage boy and was attacked by some youth who accused him of attempting to sodomise the boy.
But the boy’s mother, Osofo Mame Martha Addai and the Assembly member, Emmanuel Akyerem both confirmed the incident and said the case was being handled by the Fomena police.
The Assembly member revealed that the chief had previously been accused of a similar act.
