All five people on board a Toyota Vitz en route Akropong-Dabaa in the Ashanti Region have lost their lives after the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into Owabi River.
A video clip intercepted by myrepubliconline.com indicated that the five occupants of the vehicle, including a mother and her child, were found dead after they extricated from the vehicle in the river.
The mother is said to be taking her kids to school and allowed her neighbours to join the vehicle to their destination.
Eyewitness say the vehicle coming from Dabaa to Akropong skidded off the main road before overturning and plunging into the river.
The deceased persons have been identified as 40-year-old fashion designer, Helena, 28-year-old plumber, Boamah Gyasi Eric, 10-year-old school pupil, Lordina Yasan, 5 – year – old pupil and 41-year-old teacher, Rita Agyare.
The body of the missing child identified as five-year-old Doreen Yasan was found after the locals in the community performed some rituals.
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Mount Sinai morgue as family members, friends, and the community mourn the tragic loss.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially along the winding and narrow roads in the area.
The Presiding Member of the Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly, Francis Bobie Ansah confirmed the incident.
