Residents of Abotanso, a farming community near Kumawu in Senkyere Kumawu District have called on authorities especially their Member of Parliament Hon. Samuel Bosoah and the District Chief Executive Hon Samuel Addai Agyekum to help repair their broken down bridge linking their community to the rest of Kumawu.
The Bridge which broke down about a year ago has deteriorated due to neglect and erosion, leaving behind a huge gully and a death trap for residents.
Culvert that were hurriedly constructed during the electioneering period to fix the bridge are still lying dormant.
Speaking to Salt FM, Community leaders and Drivers plying the route detailed the various hardships and inconveniences the broken down bridge has caused the community.
From increase in the transport fares to market women having to carry their wares and increase in prices of general goods in the area due to the broken down bridge
With the raining season in the offing, residents fear that their community may be completely cut off from the rest of the district
Drivers in the area talked told reporters about their huge maintenance cost due to the bad nature of the diverted road to the community.
