A 38 year-old guard with the Forestry Commission in the Kumawu area has accidentally blown his head off with his own gun.

The sad incident occurred at Kumawu- Wonoo on Friday when the Green Ghana Project exercise was underway in all parts of the country.

The report says, the deceased, Seidu Benjamin, together with his co-workers were on their way to Wonoo forest with pick up truck on Friday around 10am, to pack some of the trees’ seedlings to supply to other communities within the Sekyere Kumawu district.

The Assembly Member for Presbyterian Mission Electoral area, Sulemana Abubakar explained that, Seidu Benjamin sat at the back of the truck and carrying gun when they were going for the activity, and he placed the gun vertically upward with the muzzle on his jaw, but unfortunately on their way, the car jump into a pothole which unintentionally compel him to pull the trigger and fired him at the spot.

He was rushed to the hospital, but he was declared dead on the arrival.

The wife of the deceased, Madam Sadikatu Seidu, also shared how she heard such shocking news about the death of his beloved husband Seidu Benjamin.

Seidu, who is survived by four children has since been buried according to Muslim custom.
